Robin Metcalfe, operations manager, and Andrew Lee, both from the Fraser Valley, are currently preparing their new venture. Their company, Blue Creek Forest Products (which has its’ head office in Vancouver) has bought the old mill at the Barriere Industrial Park just past Insight Tire. Now they are busy cleaning up the site and checking and preparing all the equipment in preparation for starting up the mill. By mid to late May, they hope to be busy producing lumber; processing mostly cedar, fir, spruce and pine.
“The District of Barriere has been very helpful,” said Metcalfe, “We look forward to doing business in the community.”
