Excitement was high when Barriere Curling Club announced their ice was ready for curling early last November.

For a few months curlers were able to enjoy their sport, while at the same time abiding to social distancing requirements due to the ongoing pandemic. However, their fun on the ice came to an early end on Jan. 12, 2021, when the club announced via their Facebook page they were “officially closed for the season”.

“Due to the extension of the adult team sports ban to Feb. 5, the executive has decided to close the curling club and take the ice out,” said the posting, “An email has been sent to all curlers with a few more details. Thank you to all of you for following the COVID-19 protocols and allowing us to get some games in this year. We did our best!”
