North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo lawnmower races a bit hit with crowds

Lawnmower racing is becoming a popular sport in fairs throughout B.C. and the 2023 North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo on labour day weekend was no exception. Many of the engines sounded more like cars than lawnmowers and some participants had been working on their modified mowers for months in preparation for the competitions during the three day fair.

Lawnmower racing is becoming a popular sport in fairs throughout B.C. and the 2023 North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo on labour day weekend was no exception. Many of the engines sounded more like cars than lawnmowers and some participants had been working on their modified mowers for months in preparation for the competitions during the three day fair. The rumble through the grapevine in Barriere is a lot of interest in this new ‘sport’ has been generated during the fall fair weekend and there may be even more mowers in the arena next year.

Get your wrenches out ladies and gentleman, polish up your fenders and keep your designs ‘top secret’ until next mower racing season.
