BARRIERE, B.C. - Thank you to all participants and those who helped out in making this year’s North Thompson Fall Fair Family Parade, sponsored by Thompson Valley Players, a resounding success. Everyone received a ribbon earning recognition of their participation, dedication and creativity in this annual Labour Day weekend event.

There was a real live super hero, Billy Marciniw, who took first prize in his category. Besides a hero we had the 4F Lamb Group, who dressed their furry four legged friends in shirts while they themselves wore colourful Cat In The Hat costumes. The group was one of the top five participants that took home a $25 cash prize courtesy of the Thompson Valley Players. The other four winners were Ryse, Ryan and Addie Evans, who showcased their covered wagon. Kaycee Jensen with her floral bicycle float and Meah Gobby with the sweetest Candy Cart (go-cart) one could imagine. Meah’s brother Dominic proudly escorted his sister down the winding parade route. And sweet it was when our little Miss Shylo Ryde appeared as a princess on her steed “Joe the Unicorn” equally adorned in all the colours of the rainbow. Shylo’s step-mom Kyra Marie offered us up some inside information, “Shylo aspires to become a future North Thompson Fall Fair Ambassador.”

And our ambassadors themselves did not disappoint. They were on board helping organize the line up and worked alongside British Columbia’s High School Rodeo Queen Myranda MacKenzie, with the judging, the awarding of the top prize ribbons and the final presentation of the cash prizes.

Joining the Monday, Sept. 5, parade was Zachery Thalheimer, who rode and drove his “balloons and tunes” motorized vehicle along with Waylon Matthew in his mini-Range Rover. There was “Alvin and the Chipmunks” Aiden, Liam and Cam Murphy. And we marched along to the beat of Marlene Hale, a drummer from Montreal. She took first prize in her category.

What is a parade without a clown. Uncle Chris the Clown kept us all entertained throughout the registration, the line up and as we set off down the route. Many thanks for all you did and do.

And taking the rear position was the lovely Priscilla Krause in her cart drawn by two adorable miniature horses. We were so pleased to have you join the parade. Your participation is dully noted and greatly appreciated.

Thank you to Ashley Wohlgemuth and the Barriere Fire Department, and Constable Jeremy Galvin from the Barriere RCMP Detachment for providing our escort. Your presence ensured the safety and security of the participants. Special shout out to Darcey Woods who supplied Myranda MacKenzie with ‘Pumpkin’ Myranda’s mount for the parade.

See you all again next year!
