The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association (NTFFRA) advise they applied last spring for a New Horizons For Seniors grant, and that part of their successful application was to request funding so they could pay the rental fee for Barriere Community Garden plots being utilized by seniors. The grant also provided for the cost of purchasing flowers and vegetables to help those folks to get their garden plots off to a good start.
The NTFFRA advise the plants and vegetables were all purchased from the recent Yellowhead 4H Club’s annual plant fundraiser.
In all, thanks to New Horizons For Seniors, a three-way partnership was created to benefit gardening seniors within the community.
