NT Valley school Christmas concerts will look different this year

The spirit of the season is making its way through School District 73 schools, although due to COVID-19 events will be different this year. Most of the schools in the Lower North Thompson are planning to share virtual songs and performances with parents and families due to BC Health social distancing regulations which includes a ban on gatherings outside the immediate family bubble.

Instead of in person gatherings a number of SD73 schools will be sharing school videos, while others are planning videos from each class. Some schools are deferring their winter concerts in favour of spring concerts, and a few schools are simply focusing on seasonal in-school activities and sending out best wishes to families and communities ‘in spirit.’

Links to virtual performances will be sent out by the schools to families during the last week of classes, from Dec. 14 – 18.

At this time schools in the North Thompson advise: Vavenby Elementary is planning a video featuring skits, Sun Peaks Academy is planning a ’12 Days of Sun Peaks’ video, Barriere Elementary are planing a holiday story and songs, Heffley Creek are planing holiday songs, and Raft River in Clearwater are creating class videos.
