Oh my goodness – already?

This photograph was taken in a Barriere area garden on Jan. 23, 2022. Amazingly, there are two iris shoots poking through the solidly frozen ground, and the snow that is overtop.

The homeowner says the frozen ground “is solid as a rock, and a long way from thawing out!”

Once again, Mother Nature has proven if she gets half a chance she will always bring new life to the land as soon as the sun pokes its head out of the clouds.

These two hardy little iris tubers may have a rough road ahead when temperatures drop and snow returns, but for now they have brought a smile to all those who spotted their appearance.
