The community of Barriere was a gardener’s smorgasbord on Saturday, May 7, with a number of local organizations holding plant sales as fundraisers.
The North Thompson Valley Garden Club, the Barriere and District Heritage Society Yarden Sale, and the Barriere Elementary School plant sale did a brisk business.
Those with green thumbs, and those ready to try their hand in the garden, spent an exciting morning traveling between venues as they chose seeds, bulbs, bedding plants, shrubs, berry bushes, hanging baskets, and numerous other garden paraphernalia.
Although the warm weather required to get vegetable plots and flower beds growing has been slow in coming this year, it hasn’t stopped the enthusiasm of the area’s gardeners.
