North Thompson Valley Garden Club President Franz Friesinger has arranged to have renowned horticulturalist Brian Minter come to Barriere.

Minter will be speaking on two topics: New Garden Trends and Taking Your Garden to the Next Level,  as well as providing plants appropriate to our hardiness zone that are new and unusual for a plant sale to follow the presentation.

The presentation will take place Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at 7 p.m., at the Christian Life Assembly, 4818 Annesty Road in Barriere.

Tickets are $12 in advance and available at Country Feeds, Armour Mountain Office Services or Legends Used Books. If any tickets remain, they can be purchased at the door for $15.

The Garden Club is thrilled to have been able to arrange such a well recognized presenter.

Several members of the club have been able to hear Minter speak at other locations and have brought back rave reviews.

The Garden Club meets monthly on the third Sunday, September through June from 1 to 3 p.m. at the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre.

Each meeting has a short business portion followed by a presentation or workshop.

The Garden Club was instrumental in bringing about the Community Garden in Barriere years ago, but they are not affiliated with it directly any longer.

If you have an interest in any type of gardening, seed saving, etcetera, please consider joining.
