The J.D.C. Youth Group’s recent Family Activity Night, Nov. 26, held an Air Band Competition (pictured), which is basically performing along with a song and acting out the words as if you are a rock star. There was awesome participation with many songs; YMCA, Purple People Eater, Fireworks and much more. A highlight was a special performance of Baby It’s Cold Outside, by Josiah Sweetnam and Jessica Gartner. Everyone loved it. There was a panel of five judges who gave their own character performances, and then prizes for the best acts over all. Christmas Tree ornaments were also made for the Community Christmas Tree Light-up on Dec. 9.

On Dec. 17, the J.D.C. Youth Group Family Activity Night will host a real “old fashioned family Christmas” event for people of any age, complete with skits, crafts, Christmas carols, music, the reading of the Nativity, and snacks. There will be lots of entertainment and anyone can take part in singing, playing music or being in a skit.

The Group invites the whole community to come out and just enjoy the friendship and joy of Christmas.

If someone is willing and wanting to play a song or two, or share a story or a poem, they are invited to come and join in sharing with others what Christmas is all about.  The evening of fun will start at 6 p.m. at the NT Volunteer Centre (the Ridge), and while it is free for all, a donation for the Food Bank would be welcomed.

Afterwards the Group is planning to go caroling around the neighbourhood, and all are invited to join in the spreading of Christmas cheer.
