There are several halls in Barriere available for community functions. There’s the Royal Canadian Legion, the Barriere Lions Hall (or Community Hall), the Barriere Curling Rink, the North Thompson Volunteer Centre, the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall and the North Thompson Agriplex Banquet Hall, and now there is the Barriere Seniors Hall.

Once upon a time, you had to be a member to book the Seniors Hall, but no longer. Now anyone can book it, on a first come first served basis.

The Seniors Hall is a busy place with certain days and times pre-booked for regular users of the hall. For instance, an Adult Support program is there on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Carpet Bowling on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m., and Footcare nurses are available once a month. During the winter months, every other Saturday is booked for the Farmer’s Market (with the next dates being Feb. 10 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

For more information about the Seniors Society and their hall you can call; Mary Lou Jones at 250-672-0321.
