Barriere RCMP attended the scene of a collision on Highway 5 in McLure at the request of a commuter traveling from Barriere to Kamloops on the snowy morning of Nov. 22.

The commuter was Wanda Nystoruk, who says she immediately called the detachment as soon as she could safely pull off the highway to advise she had just seen tire tracks in the snow going off-road and over an embankment approximately 13.8 km south of Barriere in the McLure area.

RCMP Cpl. Rob Welsman reports the detachment also received an additional request from EHS, who were en-route.

“On arrival, our office assisted the driver, who was the sole occupant, in getting back up to the highway from the bottom of the embankment,” said Welsman, “We always appreciate the assistance of the public in reporting possible emergencies. In this case, it allowed us to get there faster and be able to assist right away.”
