CONTAMINATED SOIL Soil and snow contaminated by diesel fuel that spilled as a result of a truck crash next to Highway 5 about five km north of Barriere on March 15 is contained by plastic sheeting. A more complete cleanup will be done once the weather warms. According to the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, about 150 litres of fuel is believed to have been involved, although that is not confirmed. Initial reports indicate that no waterways were impacted. The truck driver walked from the crash and apparently suffered no serious injuries. (Keith McNeill - Barriere Star/Journal)
