Last week Barriere Secondary’s leadership class promoted Spirit Week. Each day there was a different theme. Friday, Nov. 19, was ‘Fancy Friday’, with Principal John Tyler reporting it proved to be a great way to end the week. He noted the day that seemed to bring out the greatest creativity was ‘Anything but your backpack’ day, with students carrying their books and materials in things like hampers, suitcases, and toddler’s toy shopping carts.
“A giant thank you to Ms. Mairs and Mrs. Elsby along with the students in Mrs. Elsby’s classes,” stated Tyler, “These groups came together to make lunches for the whole school for three days while the bridge construction took place. The food was great! There was plenty for everyone and our students stayed safely on site throughout the week. Thank you again to the District of Barriere for their generosity in paying for these lunches.”
The principal also advised that the Big Buddies program will be starting with the elementary school.
”We have 20 student leaders committed to visit the elementary school, with each ‘Big Buddy’ paired with one to two younger students,” explained Tyler, “They work together to build positive, healthy relationships.”
