If you have been to the fairgrounds facility in Barriere you may have seen a large cooler with windows inside the North Thompson Agriplex arena.
This cooler is an important part of the BC Ag Expo events held in September, especially for the carcass class division which enables 4-H members to learn about beef, lamb and goat carcass judging. During the Expo the champion carcasses are displayed to the public in the cooler before being auctioned off on the final day of the event.
“Unfortunately, the evaporator in the cooler had started to leak badly and was in danger of failing during use for this year’s events,” told BC Ag Expo rep, Evelyn Pilatzke, “It was going to be an expensive repair for the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association to find the funds to replace the evaporator after having just come through two years of COVID restrictions which curtailed earning income from the facility. However, thanks to the generosity of a number of sponsors, funds were raised and the repair has now been completed well before fair time.”
Both BC Ag Expo and the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association have extended a heartfelt “thank you” to The Horn Levy Fund, Salle Ranch, Fennell Ranches Ltd, and BJC HVAC Ltd. for their support.
