Students busy getting ready for Art For Others

Barriere Elementary School’s 5th Annual Art For Others Event takes place on April 27, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium, and area residents are invited to participate.

Art for Others is a gallery event that welcomes the whole community to view the talents of the school’s students, appreciate their effort and achievements, and purchase artwork by donation to take home that evening.

Art for Others will highlight student achievements in the visual arts and provide opportunity for the community to be entertained by students in the performing arts with short concerts by both the junior and senior bands as well as a presentation by one of the Destination Imagination teams.

The event has been a fundraiser each year for an organization chosen by the students.  Recipients in past years include;

Year 1 - Yellowhead Senior Centre Assisted Living: sound system

Year 2 - Community Garden: spring bulb and beautification

Year 3 - North Thompson Players: youth drama camp

Year 4 - North Thompson Communities Foundation: specific youth sports

This year the choice has been made to support the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association’s  building of the North Thompson Agriplex.

Baked goods and refreshments will also be available for purchase during the evening.
