Following the Christmas Concert at the Barriere Elementary School, a group of grade 6/7 students, who had worked diligently on this fundraising project, opened ‘Santa’s Closet’ in the library.

When people walked by the library after the concert ended, many could not resist stopping in to check out the many gift items the students had offered for sale there.

Working with their teachers, the students had  made many of the items themselves.

There was a great display of native design art objects, small drums decorated with beads and feathers, and beaded necklaces amongt the many items offered.  Judging by the shoppers that stopped in at ‘Santa’s Closet’ the fundraising was going well.

Asked what the money was raised for, the students explained that 50 per cent would go to  their field trip that is planned for next summer, 25 per cent will be donated to the Kamloops SPCA, and 25 per cent is designated to go to UNICF (an organization that helps children in need world wide)

All of the students agreed the project had been a lot of work;  but they also agreed that ‘Santa’s Closet’ had been an exciting project in support of good causes.
