Are you ready for the Indoor Teddy Bear Picnic on Sunday, Jan. 28, in the Barriere Ridge gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.?

What better way to spend a winter day indoors with the kids and family, meet new friends, and socialize while the youngsters enjoy all the fun.

All you have to do is bundle up the kids, grab their favourite teddy bear or stuffy and come on down to join in all the fun at this absolutely free event where all ages are welcome!

Don’t forget to make sure everyone takes part in the Teddy Bear Parade at 12 noon, with prizes awarded by our judges to the best bears and stuffies in the parade.

There will also be a Teddy Bear Doctor on site so youngsters can take their bear or stuffy for a health check up, then receive a certificate of health to take home.

Organizers promise free refreshments and healthy fun snacks, or bring your own family picnic and blanket for the kids and the Teddy Bears. Everyone can enjoy the Lego station, multiple toys to play on, games, crafts, and best of all music to dance to.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will be the wrap up event in the Barriere area for Interior Savings’ Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week, Jan. 20-28,and in support of Family Literacy Day® on January 27. The goal of Interior Savings Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week is to encourage families to find a healthy balance between sedentary screen time and active family time.

If you would like more information about the Teddy Bear Picnic event please contact Barriere and Area Literacy Outreach Coordinator Jill Hayward at 250- 319-8023.

See you there! And don’t forget the bear!

The Indoor Teddy Bear Picnic is sponsored by Interior Savings, Barriere and Area Literacy Outreach, Yellowhead Community Services, the North Thompson Star/Journal and Black Press.
