Barriere Elementary School students gathered in the gymnasium to receive backpacks

Just a few days before school closed for the summer, a large group of Barriere Elementary School students  gathered in the gymnasium to receive backpacks, fully loaded with school supplies, as a surprise gift from TELUS.

Each year TELUS selects a different school for this very significant donation, and this time Barriere students were the lucky recipients.

TELUS Community Ambassadors in Kamloops donated these backpacks to randomly selected students providing them with needed school supplies for their new school year.

The back packs are tailored to the needs of students in individual school districts from Kindergarten through Grade 7.

The TELUS Community Ambassadors backpack program provides welcome assistance for parents buying school supplies.

Barriere Elementary School Principal, Phil Janicki noted that the students have received their backpacks now, so that they will have them for the beginning of the school year in September.
