Barriere SmokeEaters are thanking area residents “For the fantastic support” they received during the area’s Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy held last fall. They especially want to recognize four young boys (pictured above), who came in to the fire department with $29.15 in change that they had personally collected in the community.

Deputy Fire Chief Rob Lennea says, “This donation was a reflection of the giving spirit in Barriere. We raised a total of $2,000 for Muscular Dystrophy in 2010, and the cheque has been forwarded to the Muscular Dystrophy Canada.”

Lennea says a special thanks should go to firefighters Drew McMartin for spearheading the fund raiser, and Todd English who assisted; as well as everyone who helped or gave their support through donations.
