The District of Barriere (DOB) is currently taking applications from anyone interested in accepting a volunteer position on a newly formed Recreation Committee within the municipality. Terms for committee members will expire on Dec. 31, every two years.

The committee will be comprised of one DOB councillor and up to six Barriere residents. The mandate of the committee will be to promote and sustain recreation programming within the District of Barriere.

An overview of the positions as listed on a DOB noticeboard advises that members of the committee will be appointed on the basis of “availability, experience and the expertise they can bring to the committee, and not necessarily as representatives of particular agencies, organizations or groups. Representatives will reflect the diverse range of community knowledge and expertise, and consideration will be given to include representatives with expertise in relevant areas and represent various ages.”

Only those applicants selected will be contacted advises the notice.

Interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of application outlining their interest, qualifications and contact information to the District of Barriere office in person or into the drop box at the Ridge building, or fax to: 250-672-9708, or email: bpayette@barriere.ca by the deadline of May 21, 2022.
