The judges are coming to Barriere for Communities in Bloom

Barriere prepares to be judged again for Communities In Bloom

It is Communities in Bloom (CiB) time again in Barriere, with the official judges arriving here on July 19.

The community is invited to a “Welcome Judges, Thank You Volunteers” barbeque at 6 p.m. in Fadear Park on July 19; everyone is welcome and there is no charge.

Do you have an interesting planter or feature in your front yard?  Take a photo and email to emonteith@barriere.ca.  The CiB judges will be asked to award a prize for the best display.

Also, there is a competition for the most unusual small planter, something you can carry to the Bandshell to be used as part of the decorations for June 19.  The CiB judges will be awarding prizes here as well, one for under 13 years of age and one prize for 13 and over.

Judging day for the community is July 20,  and the Barriere CiB Committee is asking “If everyone could do that little bit extra before the judges arrive”.

Remember, Communities in Bloom is about more than flowers; it also includes, tidiness, landscaping, heritage, urban forestry, environmental and floral displays.

In the three years that the district has been part of Communities in Bloom this community has been awarded 4 out of 5 blooms and have won the tidiness and heritage trophies.

Your participation is key and anything you do to help the “community bloom” is most appreciated.
