Well, thank goodness for Donna Salle. Golf Captain Deb Rainer was away on a short holiday this week and I am so thankful that Donna Salle was there to help me with the calculations and prizes. We also had a lovely round of golf….well, a lovely visit with a so- so round of golf. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a bad round of golf when you are golfing with friends.
The weather was quite iffy…cooler temps and a threat of rain. Most of us managed to dodge the rain but a few folks got wet. Gross/Net sponsors were Sundown Construction, Quality Contractors, Kelly McNabney of TriPeaks Physio and Steve Passmore of Sun Life Financial. Low gross winners were Susan Newberry (47) in Flight 1, Laurie Hawley (47) in Flight 2, Evelyn Lucas (53) in Flight 3 while Rose Seymour and Karina Scott shared the honours (62) in Flight 4. Low net winners were Donna Salle by retro in Flight 1, Babes Shanko in Flight 2 and Anita Hill in Flight 3. Susan Newberry scored the only Birdie of the day.
Prizes from some sponsors were not claimed during the golf so they were added to the door prizes. Those sponsors were Sam’s Pizza, Salle Ranch, Stamer Logging, the Smiths (Barb and Carman) and Campbell & Co. Quite of number of us hit our balls in to the gully to win prizes from Drake Cremation. I managed to do so twice.
Long Drive prizes went to Donna Salle (Thompson Valley Awards), Laurie Hawley (AG Foods), Jamie Mosdell (Armour Mountain Bookkeeping),and Karina Scott (Barriere IDA). Wanda Amos was the most accurate driver (Barriere Motor Inn). Long Putts earned prizes for Susan Newberry (Barriere Timber Mart), Audrey Rilcoe (Blue Moon Galeria & Cafe), Jamie Mosdell (HUB International), Kayla Burian (Just U), and Rose Seymour (The Local Artisan Market). Leslie Stirling won Least Putts by retro with 16 putt and Lynda Fournier won Most Putts with 24. Only half of the KP prizes were won. Marian Wallace (Cindy Leibel Real Estate Corp) won one and Laurie Hawley picked up two prizes from MJB Lawyers and Brian and Brenda Carl. Karina Scott had a KP in 2 (EBL Ventures) on Hole 6 and Susan Newberry (Rainer Custom Cutting) had a KP in 2 on Hole 7. Terri Jones had a KP in 3 on Hole 8 (Station House Restaurant).
Just a reminder – I like to get the word out early because with newspaper deadlines the column comes out in the newspaper about 9 or 10 days after the actual golf night. Our next Fun Night will be a Texas Scramble on August 22nd with a 5:00 pm shot gun start. The theme is angels or white. We are raising funds for the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in memory of Louis McInnis. I encourage anyone wishing to make a pledge to check in with one of the ladies (or you could call me at 250-672-5706). We all have had a friend or family member spend time at the hospice home and we know what a caring facility it is. I encourage ladies to sign up well in advance so Deb and I can get our angels in order.
Hope you are all enjoying your summer. We are already 2/3 of the way through our golf season so if you haven’t come out yet you had best do it soon. See you at the course.
