The Thompson Valley Players are excited to announce they will be hosting a Christmas event coming Dec. 16 and 17 to the Fall Fair Hall in Barriere, and they say their first step is “to invite anyone with an interest in participating”.

“We are holding a planning meeting on Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Fall Fair Hall, 676 Barriere Lakes Road,” says TV Players rep Beverly Murphy, “If anyone would like to entertain or be a part of the stage crew, please come and find out what we can find that suits you. The event is open to all ages, and we welcome groups as well as individuals to perform.”

Murphy says the theme of the event will be ‘Memories of Christmas’.

“Our goal is to create and share old memories and traditions,” said Murphy, “It will be in the format of a variety show so come share your ideas. Recite poetry, sing, dance, prepare a skit, play an instrument, or just tell your story. The possibilities are endless. We will also be looking for a group to run a concession.”

The Thompson Valley Players are extending a welcome to others to come forward and join the group.

“We will be holding our AGM at 7:30 p.m. on Nov 3, right after the planning meeting,” says Murphy, “We are very excited to get going on more performances in the community, but we need more members to do so. If you’ve ever thought about joining now is the time, we are looking to rebuild the group after a few quiet and unsettled years. We have something for everyone’s interests and talents. It takes a lot of different people to put on a performance from sound and lights, stage direction, publicity, and costuming, it’s not just acting. Everyone plays an important part in the building process. Come and have some fun and make some memories. We can’t wait to get started and bring some hometown entertainment back to Barriere.”
