The North Thompson Fall Fair and BCRA Polaris Championship Rodeo Finals is just around the corner. Now is the time to circle the dates on your calendar and start making plans for that Sept. 3-5, Labour Day weekend.
One date that families will especially not want to miss is Friday, Sept. 2, when the Thompson Valley Players are hosting a good old fashioned family dance, starting at 7 p.m. in the Fall Fair Hall on the south side of the fairgrounds in Barriere.
“Everyone is welcome,” said NTFFRA Fall Fair Event Manager, Bev Murphy, “Make sure you gather up your friends and bring out the whole family!”
Murphy says there’ll be some exciting entertainment, as well as line dancing, “And a whole lot of two stepping”.
The music DJ will be Michelle Rutschke, who promises she’ll be playing some good old country, a bit of new country, and may even sing a song or two for the crowd.
“Don’t forget to dust off your dancing boots, get practicing, and put on your best western attire as there will be prizes for best cowboy, best cowgirl for juniors and seniors, and prizes for the best chicken dance,” said Murphy.
Doors to the event will open at 6:30 p.m., with admission by donation.
The local Boy Scouts’ troop will be onsite hosting a concession and offering up some tasty snacks for the attendees.
“Come on down and have some great family fun, chat with old friends, and kick up your heels Barriere,” said Murphy, “Have a blast and get into the spirit of the Fair!”
