It is so important that your cat gets enough water.

Water intake is very important to keep your cat happy and healthy.

Sometimes cats don’t like the bowl they’re drinking out of, cats don’t like their whiskers to touch the bowl when eating or drinking. Try changing the cats bowls, it may help them to drink more.

Did you know that cats prefer their water chilled? Sometimes adding ice cubes to their water bowl will entice them to drink. Does your cat like to drink from taps? How about paw at the water to drink from their paw?

Did you know cats also prefer to drink from water that’s flowing? I can’t stress enough how important it is for cats to have the proper water intake, especially males.

Male cats are prone to develop crystals which leads to blood in the urine, straining to urinate and extreme pain leading to death very quickly. Proper hydration, and food (stick to something chicken for males), will help prevent these things from happening.

In the winter it’s difficult for outside cats to get their proper fluid intake. A heated water bowl can help. Also giving your cats wet food, pate, will help them get hydrated. It’s not just a treat for your cat, it’s also healthy for them. Stick to the pate though, many cats only lick the broth out of the flaked cans which doesn’t give them everything they need. Adding a bone broth will also help them get hydrated and they like the taste if it too.
