Update from Barriere Graduating Class of 2016

Commencement Ceremonies for Barriere Secondary grads to be held at Bandshell

By Glenda Feller

Here is an update regarding upcoming events for the Barriere Grad Class of 2016.

Weather permitting, this year’s graduation class is hoping to hold their Commencement Ceremonies outside at the Barriere Bandshell on Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m.

The dinner and dance portion of the weekend will be held this year in the community – at the Barriere Curling Rink.

The weekend’s festivities will then end with a middle of the night departure by bus to Playland at the PNE for a Dry Grad trip to remember for the BSS Class of 2016.

Currently the Dry Grad fundraiser is underway at the Barriere Liquor Store.  One hundred per cent of the monies donated at our local liquor store are donated to the Barriere Grad Class.  This fundraiser only runs for the month of March so please support this year’s grad class next time you are there.

The grads are currently selling sausage rings and smokies from Gary’s Deli for $6 each.  You can contact any grad for more information.  The orders are due on March 29 and will be delivered after April 7.

The Grad Fashion Show will take place on Thursday, April 21.  Tickets are $10 and are available from any grad or at the door.  There will be lots of things to entertain you at the Fashion Show; casual and formal wear fashioned by the grads, skits to entertain, a silent auction with many great prizes to bid on, and refreshments.

Look for the grad class to have tables at many upcoming community garage/yard sales as well.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the grads along the way this year – we really appreciate it.
