Thompson-Nicola Regional District
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District’s Environmental Services department is ready for residents in the Regional District to recycle their Christmas trees and lights.
All TNRD Solid Waste Disposal and Recycling Facilities will be accepting, free of charge, bare, natural Christmas trees until January 31, 2014.
Broken strings of Christmas lights can also be recycled for free at the facilities’ scrap-metal piles until Jan. 31, 2014.
“We know that along with the holiday season can come an increase in waste,” said Jamie Vieira, Manager of Environmental Services for the TNRD. “So we are happy to help residents with these extra recycling options during the holidays, and we hope that people will be thinking of ways they can reduce and reuse in addition to recycling this holiday season.”
A good way to help cut down on waste is to simply reuse old wrapping paper or bags when gift-giving.
