Yellowhead 4-H speech day was a great day with lots of well prepared speeches. This year it was held at the Barriere Lions Hall. We started at nine o’clock, took a break for a potluck lunch, and ended at four o’clock.

We had topics ranging from Family Pets to Using Drones on the Farm. Some of our pre-clubers tried their hands at speaking in front of a large crowd and they all did very well.

Everyone tried their hardest, and some are even on their way to the District speeches.

Caleb Knoll won first place in the Junior division, Jeremy Sallie won second and Rachel Bijl won third. In the senior division, Johnathan Fennel won first, Connor Farrow won second and Cheyanne Veninga won third.

The first and second place winners of both Juniors and Seniors will be moving on to District speeches which will be held at the Heffley Creek Hall on March 3, at 2 p.m.

Our appreciation goes to Michelle Trommeshauser and Angie Farrow as they went early and set up. We would also like to thank all the parents for bringing food for lunch. The Lions Club also needs to be thanked as they let us use the hall for speech day. A big thank you goes to our junior judges, Debbie Fraser, Cory Carmicheal and Christine Oates. Also, to our senior judges, Helen Fraser, Barb Lewko and Cheri Jardine. Thank you for coming out and giving us your time.

All of our winning members are very excited to have made it and are ready for the next level.

It was a great day to be together as a club and to enjoy some very good speeches.
