The North Thomson Fall Fair and Rodeo runs Sept. 3 - 5

The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo officially gets underway on Thursday, Aug. 18, when the grand opening of the downtown entry office on Barriere Town Road takes place.

Everyone is invited to stop by from 12 noon to 3 p.m. to join in the fun, and of course drop off your entries or pick up an entry catalogue..

The location of the office has been changed from the Chamber office on Barriere Town Road to just a few doors north where it will be inside the old Sweetnam’s Store next to the liquor store.  The change is to facilitate being open on Saturdays so local folks can drop off their entries when they come into town.

Thank you so much to the Barriere and Area Chamber of Commerce for their kind offer of an office for this year.

Please mark your calendars for Aug. 18, and head on down and get into the Fall Fair mood with hot dogs, balloons, zucchini races and of course hear who was the lucky winner of the Early Bird Entry Draw is.

While joining in the festivities you can pick up a Fall Fair entry catalogue with a full list of the classes available, from canning to baking to scarecrows and livestock.   You can also get tips on how to enter your crafts or other items in the fair.

Bring your zucchini race cars and try your luck by competing on the “race track”. Race cars can be made out of zucchini or any other vegetable, use wheels from actual toy cars and add whatever you want for decorations. There will be another zucchini race held at the entry office on the Thursday, Aug. 25,  and the zucchini races at the Fall Fair will take place on Monday, Sept. 5, which is Family Day at the fairgrounds.
