Who is Louise Lodge? I was raised in Barriere and was very active in all that was offered in the community and schools. After graduation, I attended university, obtaining a Bachelor of Physical Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education and Masters in Education Administration. I taught in Vancouver and 16 years overseas. I was an athletic/activities director in Kuwait, Pakistan, Vietnam and Egypt.
The experiences and skills I acquired as an educator will be an asset to the council, as I am organized, an active listener and communicator, respectful, observant and motivated.
I returned to Barriere in 2016 and immediately became active in the community, volunteering with youth and community events, as well as many organizations in the community and valley.
Why am I running for councillor?
● I want to promote active participation to connect all residents and develop a sense of belonging.
● I observed a need for an enhanced communication system between council and residents.
● I want to support the development of Barriere’s Official Community Plan, which focuses on economic development, housing opportunities and community character.
● I want to contribute to the growth and extension of recreation, cultural and life-skill activities and programs. Barriere is home and always will be for me, so let’s grow together and strive towards sustainability and growth of our community.
