Hello neighbors, Robert Veitch here. For over 20 years I’ve called Barriere home. I am family-oriented and would love to hear from you in order to build our community together. I am a director of our local Skateboard Park association and have served five years as a union steward with the IUOE. Through this work I’ve found my greatest skills are observation, problem solving, integrity, and dedication.
A shortage of working professionals who want to live in our community is a big concern, especially for medical services. Most are here for three to five years as a way to then have preferred positions in the larger cities. We need to build more youth opportunities, enhance our school programs to make our town attractive!
I feel that larger municipalities are favoured 100 per cent. There is a misplaced belief that helping them will filter to us. We need to appeal to professionals through real estate and an array of services that I feel are missing.
Every problem has a solution. In short, we need the medical services in our community to be self-sustaining. I would love to give main street a much-needed upgrade and get rid of boarded up buildings.
