The 100 Mile District General Hospital's emergency room has been closed effective immediately due to limited physician availability.

Interior Health announced the closure just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. The ER will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 after a nearly 24-hour closure. Regular hospital services will not be impacted by the ER's closure.

Those needing to access emergency care are asked to go Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, the Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre in Lillooet or Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Anyone in need of life-threatening emergency care for symptoms such as chest pains, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding, should call 911 for transport to the nearest appropriate facility.

IH also asks anyone unsure if their symptoms warrant an emergency room visit to call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
