Erratic driving on Highway 97 north of Clinton was reported to the 100 Mile RCMP on Nov. 22.

Sgt. Brian Lamb said the report noted that the driver of the erratic vehicle was taunting another motorist on the highway and following them to the 100 Mile House area. Lamb said officers located the vehicle on Alder Avenue and stopped it, with the male driver displaying symptoms of alcohol impairment leading to the use of a screening device. This test resulted in a fail.

"The male was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and was taken to cells for further breath testing which showed results of being over .08," Lamb said. "The male was released to attend court at a later date for impaired driving and driving over .08. The vehicle was also impounded."

This incident was one of 99 calls for service RCMP responded to last week.

Stolen truck

On Nov. 19 a vehicle was reported stolen from a gravel pit on Doman Road. Lamb said that sometime over the previous four days, a white 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Pick-Up Truck with BC license plates PN6095 was taken from the pit. The truck has a full deck with a blue Miller welder and a red 100-gallon tidy tank on it.

A gate into the pit was tampered with to gain entry to the area, Lamb noted. At this time the truck has not been recovered.

Fuel theft

Fuel was reported stolen from heavy-duty equipment located on Exeter Station Road. Lamb said a machine had been tampered with and damaged to gain access to the fuel. Approximately 200 litres of fuel was taken. The exact time of the theft is unknown.

Forest Grove Elementary broken into

On Friday, Nov. 22 just before midnight, RCMP received a report of an alarm at Forest Grove Elementary School on Eagle Creek Road. On arrival, RCMP found a broken door and window leading into the building.

Lamb said officers cleared the school and found no one inside, but did locate footprints which led to the nearby Forest Grove Community Hall where a door and window were also found damaged. RCMP cleared the community hall and once more located no one inside the building.

Lamb said it is believed the person left from the back of the community hall. Nothing known at this time was taken.

Loaded lumber trailers stolen

On Saturday, Nov. 23 a fully loaded lumber trailers was reported taken from a parking lot on the 800 block of Exeter Truck Route Road. Lamb said the trailers were subsequently located abandoned and empty just north of 108 Mile Ranch at a pull-out.

Based on the RCMP's investigation, Lamb said they believe the trailers may also have been taken to the 105 Mile House area before being abandoned. The lumber was covered in West Fraser wrapping at the time of the theft and police believe a forklift would have been required to unload the trailers and a semi-tractor to steal them.

This incident was reported at 8 a.m. on Saturday but police believe the initial theft occurred just after midnight.

Loitering leads to arrest

Lamb said that on Friday, Nov. 22 RCMP received a report of an unwanted person at a business on the 300 block of Highway 97.

On arrival, officers talked to the male and determined he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest in the Lower Mainland and Okanagan areas. Lamb said officers then arrested him on those warrants which included prohibited driving, break of an undertaking, failure to comply and uttering threats.

The male was then subsequently remanded into custody.

Trailer abandoned in ditch

RCMP recovered a stolen trailer from a ditch on Inman Road on Nov. 24. Lamb said the trailer was a black 2018 Brandt dumpy trailer that had been stolen from Kelowna on Nov. 18. Officers determined the trailer had been at the location RCMP found it in for a week prior to the report.

Garage broken into

On November 25, 2024, RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a garage at a residential property located on the 7000 block of Thomas Point Road. Sometime in the previous 10 days, Lamb said, the garage was entered but nothing known was taken. An RV located on the property also had damage to its door but was not entered.
