The BC Wildfire Service is currently targeting the Moose Valley wildfire as it displays rank four fire behaviour.

The Moose Valley wildfire, or fire C41440, was first discovered on Monday, July 22 and is believed to have been started by lightning. The out-of-control fire is currently 20 hectares in size and located 11 kilometres southwest of 108 Mile Ranch and 13 kilometres northwest of 100 Mile House.

It is currently moving in a westward direction and is described as being a highly vigorous surface fire causing crown fires. Firefighters and helicopters are already on site with heavy equipment to fight the fire with air tankers en route.

No structures or communities are currently threatened by the fire but smoke is highly visible from 100 Mile House and along Highway 97.

There are currently 59 wildfires burning across the Cariboo Fire Centre this evening with 35 currently being listed as out of control.
