To the editor,
War is, plain and simple, a method oif transferring wealth among the rich and corporate entities on both sides and a mechanism for controlling and killing off the troublesome working class. The working class, civilians and military are simply cannon fodder in a process designed to further concentrate wealth on both sides of a conflict.
There are examples of corporate entities selling their weapons of mass destruction to both sides in a conflict, helping to further enrich their management and shareholders.
I am not, for one moment, belittling the supreme effort and sacrifice made by men and women, military and civilian, their heroism is undeniable becaue they believed in their cause.
This brings us to the question, are any wars justifiable? My answer would be yes, and an example is this: Ukranians fighting for their homeland against a Russian dictator. Dictators and monsters like Putin, Hitler, Muselini and others must be stopped but in general, was is simply a money game for the rich and a humanitarian disaster for the working class.
On a lighter note, my grandfather Christopher Wesley Morden was a socialist and a pacifist, so my father put bascially my ideas about war to him, to which he replied, “Put all conflicting world leaders in a boxing ring to fight it out among themselves and when a winner emerges, shoot him or her.”
“But father,” my father protested, “you are a pacifist.”
To which he replied, “You have got to do what needs to be done for the sake of humanity.”
