I wouldn’t normally write a letter like this but with hunting season in full swing now and the amount of close calls I’ve had as a logging truck driver this week I feel like a reminder is needed.
For those of you who use resource roads for recreation, whether it’s hunting, camping, fishing or exploring. Please, if you’re driving on a road that has active log hauling on it PLEASE wait for a truck to go by and follow them up.
They will call numbers and let other drivers know you are on your way up. For those of you that have radios and use them, this doesn’t apply to you and we in the industry appreciate you! I’ve had way too many close calls with hunters flying up our haul roads this week. Please remember that loaded trucks ALWAYS have right of way and you must yield to them.
Sorry for the rant but I hope this hits the right audience.
Your friendly, local logging truck driver,
