Selling doesn’t always stop at ‘making the sale’!

To the Editor;

‘Shop Locally’ is my motto also…further to the Barriere Timber Mart article in the July 8, 2021, issue of the North Thompson Star/Journal.

To me, the trip to Kamloops, the restaurant, the traffic and the rush of the ‘big city’ isn’t worth the pennies one might save.

The Barriere merchants have always been very helpful. I have been in Barriere since 1981 and have never had any complaints about their service. Working for the inspection department for 27 years, there is nothing that can be absolute, and I’m sure I have ‘heard it all’.

Having said that, we have had reason to lose some of that faith in buying local without checking with other outlets to make sure we still do obtain the best service from our local businesses. We made a purchase from a local business and didn’t compare prices with the three similar outlets in Kamloops.

We are not satisfied with the service we received, and the local business that we dealt with will not take the product back and refund my money.

My advice now to people is to check and ensure that you are covered with every ‘i’ dotted and every ‘t’ crossed to ensure you are getting the service according to the specs – and by a reputable person.

Selling doesn’t always stop at ‘making the sale’!

John Carachelo

Barriere, B.C.
