To the editor;

The road signs are up on Dixon Mountain Road. It’s official.

Thank you to all who have taken part and been tenacious in getting this done.

I passed a resident walking on the road who signed the petition the other day and she gave a lovely smile and wave. Nice to see someone enjoying the safety of the road.

A special thank you to Mark Ralko as he is the one who instigated the petition and gave this last round the traction and energy it needed.

Thank you to Barriere RCMP Corporal Welsman for taking the time to come out and do the road test and then write a report. So wonderful for him to do that.

Thank you to Jill Hayward with the Barriere Star/Journal who has been tireless in helping local causes in shining the light on issues affecting our community.

Thank you Barriere Mayor Ward Stamer for keeping this issue at the top of his agenda and staying in contact to support the importance of safety in our valley.

And thank you to all who signed the petition. This community effort has paid off and we will all feel safer knowing vehicles are travelling slower on our road.

Finally, thank you to the government employees involved in staying with the process of making this happen.

Take care everyone. Merry Christmas and the best to all of you in this holiday season.
