Barriere Food Bank helps bring Christmas to families

Without this wonderful support of the community, many would go hungry

In just a short time it will be Christmas, but not everyone is excited, some of us may not be able to see our way to providing Christmas for our families.

This is where the Barriere and District Food Bank Society (BDFBS) can lend a hand.

The  BDFBS have been extremely busy taking orders for hampers, and then filling these hampers.  It would be totally impossible for the BDFBS to do this on our own.

Without the wonderful support of the community, many would go hungry.

All hampers have been made available for pick up or delivery on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

The food bank will be closed from Dec. 18 to Jan. 7, but if there is an emergency, phone the food bank and leave a message and one of the ladies will get back to you.

Many, many thanks to Doreen and her crew from Sam’s Pizza and Rib House for the tasty spaghetti dinner she put on Nov. 17 for the benefit of the food bank.

We would also like to thank Van Houtte Coffee Services for supplying the coffee and to Mitchell Cattle Company for supplying the beef for the event.

Last but not least to the people of the community who came out to support this very worthwhile cause.

After the holiday season, the shelves at the food bank are almost bare, so when you are out and about please keep us in mind.  We are always in need of non-perishable food items and especially peanut butter.

Again, many heartfelt thanks to the businesses and people of Barriere who support the food bank.

What a wonderful place to live.

The BDFBS is located at 4748 Gilbert Road and the telephone number is 250-672-0029.

The BDFBS  email address is: barrierefoodbank@xplornet.com

Merry Christmas to all, and may all your hopes and dreams come true in the new year.
