Kentucky Derby Race will be featured at Anti Violence fundraiser

On Saturday, Feb. 25, the group will be hosting a fundraising event

The Anti Violence Advocates Society is advocating and working towards a valley that will not tolerate violence or abuse.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, the group will be hosting a fundraising event called ‘Take The Reins’ at the Fall Fair Hall in Barriere.

This will be a ‘ladies only night’ filled with food, fun and a Kentucky Derby Race.

Funds raised from the event are earmarked to cover the cost of facilitating the Respectful Relationship Program that will be implemented in Barriere schools on Feb. 3.  The Respectful Relationship Program is a four year program that is delivered to grades 7 through 10.

“Education of our youth is the means by which the cycle of violence can be broken,” commented Anti Violence Advocates Society director Barb Gordon, “We need everyone to support this initiative – we can make a difference in the North Thompson Valley.”

For more information about the society’s initiatives or to purchase tickets to the event, contact Barb at 250-672-2111 or email: gordonbarbara@gmail.com.

Tickets are also available at Armour Mt. Office Services.
