McLure firefighters looking at Playbook training standards

Discussion took place regarding ongoing training requirements for unpaid/volunteer fire departments

The McLure Fire Department and Recreation Society held a general meeting on May 6 at the fire hall.

Thompson Nicola Regional District Area ‘P’ director Mel Rothenburger attended.

Discussion took place regarding ongoing training requirements for unpaid/volunteer fire departments in order to meet the new minimum training standards set out in the new BC Fire Service Structure Firefighters Competency and Training Playbook.

It was reported the recent bottle drive fundraiser was successful and new fire gear is now being purchased.

Firefighter training is ongoing, and there is kick boxing being held at the fire hall on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

The next meeting is on June 3 at the fire hall.
