NT Arts Council needs secretary

The North Thompson Arts Council (NTAC) held a meeting on February 21.  Members were advised that the group will be needing to elect a new secretary, as the current secretary needs to step down due to personal reasons.  A call for volunteers for this position will go out to all members, along with the reminder of the next meeting.

Several possible grants are being looked at and will be reported on at the next meeting.  Also being worked on is a schedule of workshops.  Members interested in either putting on a workshop, or in having a particular subject covered in a workshop, are asked to contact any of the executive officers.

Wayne Broomfield advised the council that he attended a meeting of the District of Barriere Bandshell Committee.  They are planning a grand opening of the bandshell in Fadear Park for May 8, and would like input from NTAC.  Several suggestions were aired, including the possibility of getting a May pole set up.

Things are starting to gear up for this year’s Celebration of the Arts Festival.  The date has been set for June 25 and 26, and it will be held on the grounds of Barr K Restaurant.  Anyone interested in participating in this year’s event is encouraged to start stocking up on their wares, and to book their booth space via email to: norththompsonartscouncil@yahoo.com, or by calling Jessie Maisonneuve at 250-672-9772.

The next meeting of the North Thompson Arts Council will be at 7 p.m., on March 14, at the North Thompson Volunteer Centre in the Ridge.
