On Saturday, June 11, approximately 60 people gathered to celebrate the Lower North Thompson Catholic Women’s League 50th Anniversary and St. George’s Catholic Church’s 25th Anniversary.

The celebration started with Mass at 5 p.m.  The Knights of Columbus Choir from Kamloops were in attendance, and sang a cappella, for the gathering due to the fact that the power had gone out in the area.  Just as the Mass was ending though, the lights came back on.

Everyone then moved over to the Ridge gymnasium, where they enjoyed a pot luck dinner.  Once again the lack of power did interfere with the celebrations and meal, as there the coffee urn was cold, but everything else was ready.

Following an enjoyable dessert there were several presentations made, one of which was the awarding of the Molly Bucher Bursary (a $500 bursary provided by the Provincial C.W.L.) to Christy Dionne.  Christy, a member of the Lower North Thompson C.W.L., will be using the funds to further her education in the field of health care.

The tickets were then drawn for the C.W.L. raffle; first prize - a fishing rod with tackle was won by Alex McDonald,  second prize - a fishing guide book was won by Maureen Blackwell, and third prize - a patio flower planter was won by Tammy McDonald.
