Your personal health is important to you. That’s why you have periodic check-ups, follow your doctor’s recommendations on diet and exercise, and take your medications. Your financial life is also important to you. That’s why you should periodically perform a portfolio check-up and follow this prescription for maintaining its health.

Besides the arrival of Santa, holidays also mark the time when attention-grabbing objects suddenly materialize around the house, at least from your dog’s perspective. Multi-coloured gifts, delicious baked treats and shimmering tree decorations are magnets for canine curiosity. However, this annual exploration may also bring hazards to our canine companions.

For fun this year I asked members of my favorite online forum www.Canadian-Photographers.ca to give me ideas for a photographer’s version of the Twelve Days of Christmas. They had a good time posting what their true love should send; and some suggestions were far too creative to fit. But after editing and smoothing the edges I came up with the following.

No matter what the Christmas songs say, Christmas is not necessarily holly and jolly for everyone.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Sabyan of Barriere.

Last Thursday evening my wife and I attended our granddaughter’s first Christmas concert. We joined what seemed to be a few hundred parents, siblings, and of course other grandparents in a small multipurpose gym. We arrived early because the seating would be limited and as it turned out, it was standing room only. Who knew?
