UPDATE: The Barriere Chevron and Chester’s Chicken opened on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2021
Friday, Oct. 15, was chicken testing day at the new Chevron Station in Barriere. Although the new enterprise is not yet open to the public it was an important day for all concerned as the very first batch of chicken was cooked and shared with Barriere Star/Journal staff, and a few neighbouring business owners.
Raj is the owner of the new station, and says he is most excited to finally be close to launching his new business. Raj says it has been a lot of work, but he is very happy with the results of the revitalization of the existing building and adding the new Chevron station.
Chester’s Chicken franchise rep Chris Baecker was also in attendance to give the final thumbs up. He noted that all the chicken served “is cooked from fresh, coming from suppliers in Salmon Arm and Armstrong”.
“Every other chicken place cooks from frozen,” said Baecker, “Chester’s is the only one in B.C. that cooks from fresh.”
As the chicken cooked to perfection under the watchful eye of experienced cooks, Jaspreet and Pawanpreet, the service station’s new convenience store was being stocked in readiness for the soon to be opening.
“Now I must be patient and wait until a few other things are made ready before we can open to the public,” said Raj.
Once the official opening takes place, the hours of operation for and the Chevron on station and convenience store will be 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. Chester’s Chicken will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
