Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there was no organized Terry Fox Run held for 2020, a year which also marked the 40th year for this nationwide event. However, this major fundraiser for cancer research did continue, but in most instances virtually in respect of social distancing guidelines.
The community of Barriere has held a Terry Fox Run every year since it’s inception. This year they marked the 40th event on Sunday, Sept. 20, in their community. Without an organized ‘Run’, area supporters turned out with their own family or frined pods to walk, run, bike and stroll to their own schedule and in their own way.
Kathy Cooper, a core Barriere ‘Run’ organizer since its inception reported, “The generosity of our small community is truly amazing, this year our ‘Run’ has raised $6,295.”
That brings the total amount raised by Barriere and area over the past 40 years for Terry’s Marathon Of Hope to $192,295.
