The annual ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ took place on Thursday Dec. 5 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at AG Foods shopping centre in Barriere.
Sponsored by the Barriere RCMP, the event had support from community partners Interior Savings, the Barriere and District Food Bank, AG Foods, Armour Mountain, the Barriere Lions Club and the Barriere Chamber of Commerce.
“We are grateful to Cpl. Camalush and his team for taking over the ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ event this year,” said Lianne Hamblin, BCOC office administrator, adding, "It was such a fun day and overwhelming to see the strong community participation once again! The RCMP Safety Bear was a huge hit with families for great photo opps."
Interior Savings volunteers were on hand serving up some hot chocolate, the Barriere Lions members stepped up to help with collecting the food and toys, and providing the photographer for the evening.
Cpl. Kyle Camalush, detachment commander with the Barriere RCMP and a good friend of the RCMP Safety Bear said, “At the Barriere RCMP, we recognize how important the local food bank is to our communities. Our entire team looks forward to participating in the “Stuff the Cruiser” event every year. Thank you to all of the community members that showed up to provide a donation.”
Hamblin agreed, "What a great show of support from community groups hosted by the Barriere RCMP and we are all so thankful for the donations, volunteers and so many caring hands who made this year's event so successful! The final tally from the food bank is: 102.8 pounds of hygiene products, 4.4 pounds of pet food and 655.2 pounds of food. This is what sharing and caring is all about!"
