BREAKING: Bridge Lake wildfire now being held, according to BCWS

The wildfire was discovered on August 9 and may have been caused by lightning

UPDATE: The wildfire C41954 is now being listed as being held, and is currently around 0.55 hectares in size, according to BC Wildfire Service. 

A wildfire is currently burning out of control near Bridge Lake.

Wildfire C41954, described as such by BC Wildfire Service, is around 0.8 hectares in size. The wildfire was discovered on Aug. 9 and may have been caused by lightning. The fire is currently burning 1.1 km west of Rutherford Lake.

The wildfire is exhibiting rank 2 fire behavior with pockets of rank 3, BC Wildfire Service tells the 100 Mile Free Press. BCWS ground crews are currently en route to the scene, with aviation resources actioning the wildfire with support from the local fire department.

BC Wildfire Service is also saying that smoke will be visible from Rutherford Lake, Bridge Lake and the surrounding area.
