Cst. Klassen, Cst. Vanwoundenberg and Cst. Galvin (Barriere RCMP) were conducting a road check on the Highway 5 and Highway 24 intersection in Little Fort, B.C.
A vehicle bearing B.C. plates came through from the north around 9:20 p.m. The driver identified himself as the registered owner, while the only passenger was a 30-year-old woman from Penticton.
Police observed .22-calibre ammunition in the glove box, but the alleged registered owner said he didn’t possess a possessions and acquisition licence. Based on this information, the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle so a search of the vehicle could be conducted.
Once the door was open, Cst. Klassen observed a .22-calibre rifle in the back seat, and both persons were arrested. A search of the vehicle turned up about 1,500 grams of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, as well as more ammunition.
The driver was released on an appearance notice, to attend court on Sept. 21, 2021, and for fingerprints and photograph the same day. The woman was released with no charges at this point. Prior to the vehicle coming through the road check, it was observed by Cst. Klassen at a well-known local residence.
Investigation is on-going.

Cst. Lockwood observed a light blue Chevrolet pick-up idling on the side of Mount Olie Street in Little Fort, B.C, at 12:33 p.m. The truck was bearing Alberta plates registered to a 36-year-old Kamloops man.
The driver was identified as the driver through a valid driver’s license and an open 24-bottle case of Molson Canadian was observed on the passenger side floor, with an empty can laying beside it.
An alcohol screening device suspicion was read, and the driver provided two “warn” samples, which is a reading between 60 mg and 99 mg BAC.
Cst. Lockwood issued the driver with immediate roadside prohibition documents, as well as vehicle impound documents. The vehicle was then towed to a local towing compound.
The driver was determined to stay in Little Fort and call for a ride to go back to Kamloops, instead of staying in Clearwater.
Cst. Lockwood offered him a ride into Clearwater multiple times which were denied. The driver stated that he wanted to stay and wait for his ride, which he did.
